A housing development with plans to build 250 houses has been finally been given planning permission.
One of the UK’s largest residential developers, Taylor Wimpey, has secured a resolution to grant planning permission for 250 residential homes to be created, along with a village green, a play area, and an extension to a local primary school in Sellindge, Kent.
The planning permission is subject to a legal agreement where Taylor Wimpey is working with Shepway Council and Kent County Council in order to secure benefits for the community.
Planning application details were displayed at an exhibition in September last year at Sellindge Parish Council.
The developer’s masterplan has been developed in line with Shepway District Council’s policy requirements, which has been created following extensive consultation with local residents as well as the council and key stakeholders.
As well as the creation of 250 homes, the plan also states it will include up to 30 per cent affordable housing, a biodiversity park for wildlife and a 30-metre noise buffer from the M20 and railway line.
The plan also includes the preservation of the existing pond, which will be used as a key landscape feature, along with planting new trees and hedgerow to add to the existing ones.
The community benefits which have been reported on Taylor Wimpey’s website, states that it will be providing improved pedestrian links, on top of numerous contributions to local facilities and infrastructure.
Consultation for the development started in June 2009, where the Core Strategy was adopted by the council in September 2013. Planning permission was granted on the 6th January this year.
