Football stadium development delayed until next year

Construction work on a new football stadium has been delayed as the club awaits a decision from the local council.

Truro City Football Club has revealed work will begin on its new ground in January next year rather than October as it had previously hoped.

The football club has submitted plans for a new stadium development at Silver Bow to Cornwall Council, but it is still awaiting a decision from them before work can begin.

Truro City expects to hear the outcome within the next fortnight, but Peter Masters, the club chairman, warned that the delays could have a negative impact.

“The bill cost is creeping up all of the time, so it’s in the best interests of all concerned to get the project moving and the stadium built.

“It’s an extremely intense project, which is taking up all of my working week, and I can assure you that there is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes by a number of people.”

Peter concluded by adding: “We are talking about the very future of the football club, so we have to make sure that everything is right.

“Our main objective this season, both on and off the field, is to ensure that a solid platform and infrastructure is put in place ready for when we move to the new stadium in order that the football club is in a position to really make forward strides.”
